BibleFootnotes.org News16 September, 2008BibleFootnotes v2.0!For the past few months we've been reworking the codebase behind BibleFootnotes, making it more extensible and more secure, as well as giving the user interface a little love. As you have probably already noticed, we have created some nicer 'MessageBox' elements for displaying useful information, warnings, and reporting errors. Be sure to read these before continuing to another page, or submitting a form. Also, we've adjusted the font size and line-spacing of the text in hopes that the passages and footnotes throughout the site will be easier to read. We've completely moved over to the email login system. In order to login, you must use your registered email address. The icons that we have used throughtout the site (with the exception of the Bible icon) were freely downloaded from icons by Axialis Team. The Bible icon (favicon) was created using Axialis Icon Workshop. I've been using Axialis's software for a few years now and I highly recommend their products for anyone who may be interested. The 'tabs' on the Add Footnote and Edit Footnote popup window pages are now real tabs. This had been bothering me for a while. It seems there's still an issue in IE. Sorry guys, we'll get to it -- I promise! Plus a whole bunch of other miscellaneous bug fixes and features! We hope you like it! 23 June, 2008Added Vandalism Flagging.Users can now flag footnotes as "vandalism" should any appear within the archive. Please only use this feature if a footnote is in fact vandalism. When flagged, a footnote is removed from the public view and a moderator is notified about the footnote. 21 June, 2008IMPORTANT! Changed Login System. After an overwhelming amount of positive feedback, users will now login via their email address rather than a chosen username. In fact, we have done away with the username choices completely. All new accounts created after today will be created with their email address as their "username". We understand this is a fundamental change to the system and everyone who signed up prior to tonight's update will be affected by it. Therefore, in order to foster a period of transition, we have set up the login page to accept either a username or email. This way users will not be locked out, but also have a chance to begin using their email address when they sign in. Please see the login page for more details. 20 June, 2008Added News and Mock User Page.Added *this* News Page and a mock of the user page. The news page is accessible via a menu item. The mock user page is accessible by clicking on their name in the left corner below the title banner. Both of these are very primitive, but were needed. 19 June, 2008Added Password Recovery System.Users can now reset their passwords by clicking "Lost Password" on the Login page. This will email a link to their registered email address and allow them to reset their password. For security reasons, BibleFootnotes does not email its users their password. 14 June, 2008Added Abbreviations Support to Search Bar.Users can now use abbreviations for book names in their searches. For example:
12 June, 2008Uploaded Book of Psalms. We had been previously having trouble with the entire book of Psalms. The text was absent from our database, but now has been restored. Also, all footnotes that had been posted for passages within the book of Psalms properly correspond to the text. Thank you for everyone's patience on this matter. 10 June, 2008About Page Content.Added several pages of useful information, including a detailed explanation of what we're trying to accomplish with BibleFootnotes, tips on how to contribute, and FAQ. Check it out under "About BibleFootnotes" in the menu! 1 June, 2008Preview Pages Added.Added an intermediate step to submitting new footnotes and footnote edits that allows users the review the changes they've made before officially submitting it into the system. Hopefully this will allow users to catch mistakes such as incorrect category selections and typos. 5 May, 2008Site Launched.May 5, 2008 marked the official launch of the BibleFootnotes you see now. |
